Flora is a graduate social work student at Columbia University in New York City and who is passionate about the field of international social work specifically regarding child welfare and resilience. Flora has experience working internationally in China, Israel, Ethiopia, and Uganda as well as domestically in Philadelphia and New York. She is interested in discovering how detrimental occurrences and the lack of protective factors for youth contribute to future mental and behavioral health concerns, especially how these effects differ cross-culturally. She believes understanding the relationship between family, community/culture, and individual coping mechanisms are key to understanding and effectively managing these concepts and looks forward to learning new perspectives on how to create facilitative factors in order to encourage growth and development.
